Lydia Morrow is a disabled and queer designer, maker, stylist and big time textile enthusiast. She was born in the USA and moved abroad with her parents to Scotland, where she still lives. Lydia studied painting at Glasgow School of Art, but pivoted to fashion and now designs inclusive knitwear under the brand What Lydia Made. Along with her collaborator, Rose Dagul, she also produces a Substack called the What Lydia Made Digest. She lives in Glasgow along with her partner, Dave, and their six-year-old.
She also happens to be my (Krystiana’s) childhood best friend. As weird, precocious, undiagnosed neurodivergent kids, we spent many hours in formative parallel play: reading books too old for us, drawing princesses in ever-evolving styles, and wondering why nobody else liked the same things we did…
