Madeleine Jurkiewicz is an independent singer/songwriter based in Indianapolis, IN. She and her sister Lily began their songwriting career at ages 17 and 15 and have released several full-length albums via Asthmatic Kitty Records and New West Records, and most recently put out their first fully independent LP called Nite Swim. Inspired by alternative artists like Feist, Beck, and Lykke Li, Madeleine and her sister write about themes of womanhood, heartache, resentment, and self-acceptance. Their "blood harmony" is at the core of their work, and Madeleine is certain that singing music is one of the purest forms of communication and creativity. She currently resides in Indianapolis with her dear partner Michael, dog Biggie, and cat Sesame. 

For us (Lynnette and Krystiana) this interview was the first time we’d gotten to interview an artist of whom we are only and authentically longtime fans. We have a core memory of singing along with Madeleine’s music tog…
